Incentivizing Stable Path Selection in Future Internet Architectures

چکیده

By delegating path control to end-hosts, future Internet architectures offer flexibility for selection. However, a concern arises that the distributed routing decisions by endhosts, in particular load-adaptive routing, can lead oscillations if selection is performed without coordination or accurate load information. Prior research has addressed this problem devising local path-selection policies global stability. little known about viability of these context, where selfish end-hosts deviate from prescribed policy such deviation beneficial their individual perspective. In order achieve network stability architectures, it essential have an incentive adopt stability-oriented policy. work, we perform first analysis stability-inducing proposed literature. Building on game-theoretic model end-host selection, show are fact incompatible with self-interest as strategies make worthwhile pursue oscillatory strategy. Therefore, networks endhosts must be enforced incentive-compatible mechanisms. We present two mechanisms and formally prove compatibility.

Architectures for Future Media Internet

Among the major reasons for the success of the Internet have been the simple networking architecture and the IP interoperation layer. However, the traffic model has recently changed. More and more applications (e.g. peerto-peer, content delivery networks) target on the content that they deliver rather than on the addresses of the servers who (originally) published/hosted that content. This tren...

Design Principles for Future Internet Architectures

The most important design principle we follow in our project is to take into account the security from the beginning and thus resolve any security concern during the inception of architectural elements. This way, the final architecture has a high grade of security and, even if any element lacks some security capability, the whole solution is not affected because the roots of the architecture ar...

Disjoint-Path Selection in Internet: What traceroutes tell us?

Routing policies used in the Internet can be restrictive, limiting communication between source-destination pairs to one path, when often better alternatives exist. To avoid route flapping, recovery mechanisms may be dampened, making adaptation slow. Unstructured overlays have been proposed to mitigate the issues of path and performance failures in the Internet by routing through an indirect-pa...

Virtual Network Performance Evaluation for Future Internet Architectures

Internet Service Providers resist innovating in the network core, fearing that deploying a new protocol or service compromises the network operation and their profit, as a consequence. Therefore, a new Internet model, called Future Internet, which enables core innovation, must accommodate new protocols and services with the current scenario, isolating each protocol stack from others. Virtualiza...

Security and Privacy Analysis of NSF Future Internet Architectures

The Internet Protocol (IP) is the lifeblood of the modern Internet. Its simplicity and universality have fueled the unprecedented and lasting global success of the current Internet. Nonetheless, some limitations of IP have been emerging in recent years. Its original design envisaged supporting perhaps tens of thousands of static hosts operating in a friendly academic-like setting, mainly in ord...
